Digital Communicator
A digital communicator can be fitted to your burglar alarm system to send a coded message to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), via a telephone line if your alarm were to activate.
The ARC will then contact the Police and your nominated keyholders to alert them of the fact that your alarm has activated.
The digital communicator can be connected to an analogue telephone line or an ADSL telephone line however an ADSL line will require an ADSL filter in order for the digital communicator to function correctly.
One problem with the digital communicator is that if a burglar was clever enough to cut the telephone line that the communicator is operating on or if there was a fault on the line, the ARC will not receive any signals if the alarm was to later activate.
A digital communicator fitted to the latest European Standard (EN50131) will send a test signal every 24 hours in order to combat the telephone line fault issues.
